It is so popular Japan passed a law outlawing the release of a new Dragon Quest game other than sunday or a holiday.Does Dragon Warrior use any mythology?Yes, mostly in the monsters. Drolls, werewolves, wyverns, and dragons are among several monsters in Dragon Warrior from mythology.Wyverns in mythology are much different than they are in Dragon Warrior (and in Japan they are called chimeras which are also from mythology and nothing like them in Dragon Warrior). Wyverns are two-legged flying dragons with a barbed tail, and chimeras is most famous as a beast in Greek mythology with a head of a lion that breathes fire. It has a classic medieval fantasy setting with some strange monsters such as onion-shaped slimes who are always happy.Although Dragon Warrior hasn't had a chance to compete with other console RPG's in the US for several years until recently, in Japan it is the best selling RPG; selling quite a bit better than Final Fantasy. It sold so well that they had to make it illegal to sell Dragon Quest games on certain days. The Dragon Warrior series may be unknown to many people, but hopefully some of my comics and animated gifs (with a pretty general fantasy theme) can still be entertaining to everyone. Dragon Warrior games stopped coming to the US until recently with several new games, such as Dragon Warrior 7. What is Dragon Quest?Dragon Quest is what Dragon Warrior is called in Japan. It is the same game series, but Japan released more games. Why did Enix change the name of Dragon Quest?TSR (the company that made Dungeons & Dragons) already bought the title Dragon Quest, so Enix had to think of a new name for their video game series in the US.What is the difference between Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior?Although Dragon Quest is just the Japanese name for Dragon Warrior, there were changes in the games. Dragon Warrior 1's had better graphics than Dragon Quest 1, and characters gained rear and side views when walking. Dragon Quest 1 and 2 originally required passwords (instead of using the save feature). All the Dragon Quest games have been edited in the US releases for religious, language, and usually sexual content. Princess Alena's Dragon Quest Castle has lots of information and commentary on the Differences between Dragon Quest and Dragon Warrior. How were the US Dragon Warrior games censored? There was originally swearing and sexual connotation. Most of the Dragon Quest games originally had a "bunny girl" who supposedly gave you a *puff-puff*. I have heard that this was a BJ, but others say it has to do with a facial message using a comfortable part of the female anatomy which I tend to feel has more validity.I took the Dragon Warrior 3: Game Boy Color remake screen shots from the GIA to make an puff puff animated gif. What names were changed in translation of the original Dragon Warrior Games?Erdrick was Roto, Princess Gwaelin was Princess Lora, the Dragonlord was King Dragon (but Dragonlord is possibly an equally good translation), Tantegel and Breconary are called Ladataurm, Kol is called Maila, Cantlin is called Merukido, Haukness is called Domudora, and some monsters names were changed. Wyverns were called chimeras, healers were called hiomi slimes, and babbles were called bubble slimes. Go to my Dragon Warrior Monsters Translation page for a list of the Japanese names of monsters in Dragon Warrior monsters. What were the Monsters of Dragon Warrior called in Japan? To name some of the more popular monsters, Wyverns were called Chimeras (Kimeras), Drakees were called Dorakiis, Healers were called Hoimi Slimes, and Babbles were called Bubble Slimes. Go to my Dragon Warrior Monsters Translation page for more of the original names.Fan ProjectsIs there a way to play Dragon Warrior on the PC?To play the actual games on your computer you need the ROM (game file) and an Emulator (program that simulates the system which the game is from). This is illegal unless you actually own the game. There are PlayStation emulators, but they require a half-decent computer (better than mine). You can also play Dragon Warrior Clones fans have made. Check the Clones Section of Dragon-Warrior.com's directory to find a Dragon Warrior Clone.Did anyone finish a fan-made Dragon Warrior game? Two people finished games extremely like Dragon Warrior. One is called Dragon King that even uses graphics from Dragon Warrior and the other is called Warrior Dragon about a dragon hero who must save the world from humans. Niether game allows the hero to gain spells, but has the basic Dragon Warrior feel. There is also now a finished palm pilot remake of the NES version of Dragon Warrior made for Kyle's Quest by Kyle Copeland called Dragonlord's Quest. No English fan-made Dragon Warrior games have been finished that are actually have "Dragon Warrior" or "Dragon Quest" in the title, or that are part of a Dragon Warrior series story. Are any fans making new Dragon Warrior games for the PC?Lots of people! So far very few have ever been completed (and some have been abandoned), but there are about 6 that should still be worked on (1-23-2001).Dragon Warrior Legend is the new game being made that I have the most information for. Some of them have their own site. Check the Clones Section for more information on Dragon Warrior clones that have their own site. Are there any Dragon Quest clones finished in Japan? There were several clones finished by professional companies & have been translated. There were also some made fans who finished some home-brewed Dragon Quest clones that use Dragon Quest graphics. These clones have ROM downloads. They were originally made for the X68000 computer. To be played you must use an Ex68 emulator. Have any of the Dragon Quest games that didn't get to the US been translated?Yes. Fully playable translations of Dragon Quest 5 and Dragon Quest 6 have been released. Is anyone translating any Dragon Quest games never released in the US?Several people are. Check the Translation Section of DMOZ directory for more information.Game Connections (Spoilers)How is Dragon Quest 1-6 all connected? There are certainly several connections through the Roto Series (Dragon Quest 1-3) and the Zenithian Series (Dragon Quest 4-6).The Dragon Quest 3 remix and 6 both have two worlds: an upper (dream) world, and a lower (dark) world. The lower worlds may either be literally underground, or they could be a different world. The dream worlds could both be Zenithia. There is a floating island in the remake of Dragon Quest 3 that could be Zenithia's future or past. If the floating island is Zenithia then it would probably be the future of the upper (dream) world of Dragon Quest 6 (Zenithia) and the upper (dream) world of Dragon Quest 3 could be either unrelated to the Dragon Quest 6 game or the unlikely malformed lower (dark) world of Dragon Quest 6. Rubiss is in Dragon Quest 2 and Dragon Quest 6. Is there any evidence that the upper (dream) world of Dragon Quest 6 is Zenithia? At the end of Dragon Quest 6 Zenithia Castle appears to be the only thing left of the upper (dream) world (as found in Dragon Quest 4 and 5.)An egg hatches at the end of Dragon Quest 6. Ian Kelly translated the dialogue of the characters as the egg hatches: Zenis: Yeah....it's finally been raised, our future..... Barbara: I wonder what it will be like, our future....Oh! It's started to hatch! In the egg could be the Master Dragon of Dragon Quest 4 and 5 rather than the literal future. Dragon Quest 6 was possibly before Dragon Quest 4 and 5. Is there any evidence that the upper (dream) world of Dragon Quest 3 is the same as the one in Dragon Quest 6?The upper (dream) worlds of Dragon Quest 3 & 6 both look similar. The evidence against this is that the Dragon Quest 3 remake had a floating island (that could have been Dragon Quest 6's upper (dream world) instead. Is there any evidence that Torland (world containing Alefgard) is the same as the lower world in Dragon Quest 6?Torland is an expanded version of the lower (dark) world that Erdrick went to.Rubiss lives in a shrine that leads deep underwater in Dragon Quest 2 and she lives at the bottom of the sea in her shrine in Dragon Quest 6. The evidence against Torland and the Dragon Quest 6 lower world being the same is there is no landmass that even remotely resembles Alefgard in Dragon Quest 6. How does Dragon Warrior Monsters relate to the Dragon Quest Series?Dragon Warrior Monsters is a spin-off of Dragon Quest 6. Terry and Mireyu are children in Dragon Warrior Monsters, and are grown in Dragon Quest 6. Terry is the main character in Dragon Warrior Monsters and Mireyu is a rival monster battler. In Dragon Quest 6 both join the group. How does Torneko: The Last Hope relate to the Dragon Warrior 4?Torneko is also known as Taloon, a merchant-hero of Dragon Warrior 4. Since Taloon is a merchant in the spin-off Torneco no Daibouken series (or American Torneko game) and be becomes a merchant during Dragon in Dragon Warrior 4, clearly Dragon Warrior 4 occurred first. What is the order of the Dragon Quest games?I can't be absolutely sure. Especially with arguments that Dragon Quest 5 is before 6, but if Dragon Quest 6 happened first, this would be the order:

These games were made on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo in US) which are now out of date. What systems are all the Dragon Warrior games for?The MSX Home Computer, Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Game Boy Color, PlayStation, and PlayStation 2. See the Dragon Warrior Game Data page for more details.Which game system had the most Dragon Warrior games? In the US, the NES (Nintendo) had the most Dragon Warrior games: Dragon Warrior 1-4. In Japan, the Super Famicom had the most Dragon Quest games: Dragon Quest 1-3 remixes, Dragon Quest 5, Dragon Quest 6, and the first Torneko game (The American release was based on the Sequal to the Super Famicom Torneko game). What is the next Dragon Warrior Game to be released in the US?There are no current plans to release any new Dragon Warrior games to the US. My guess is that Dragon Quest VIII will eventually make it. And it will probably be called Dragon Quest VIII, because Squre-Enix bought the copright. What are the next Dragon Quest Games to be released in Japan?Enix of Japan is currently developing a Dragon Quest game to be played online, Dragon Quest 8. Dragon Quest 8 and the official web-based Dragon Quest game might be the same game. Dragon Quest 8 should be released late 2004.Will Dragon Quest 5 and 6 be released in the US?Enix of America has not yet decided to release Dragon Warrior 5 and 6 in the US. If the Dragon Warrior games sell well in the US they will consider to release them here. Will there be a Dragon Warrior 4? If there will be do you think it might come out for PSX, N64 or computer? The Dragon Warrior 4 remake will not be released in the United States for the PlayStation.Dragon Warrior 4 was released for the NES long ago already and is actually part of another trilogy (as DW 1-3 is). The second two games of the 2nd (Zenithian or Heaven) trilogy were only released in Japan and were for the SNES (Super Famicom). When will Dragon Warrior 7 be released in the US?Enix of America already released Dragon Warrior 7 on November 1st 2001.What's the best selling Dragon Quest game?Dragon Quest 7 is the best selling Dragon Quest game by selling over 4 million copies. (Dragon Quest 7 is now the best selling Playstation game in Japan.) Dragon Quest 3 sold 3.8 million copies and was the best selling Dragon Quest game for a long time. Since the Dragon Warrior games weren't very popular in the US Dragon Warrior Monsters is probably the best selling Dragon Warrior game in the US. Go to my Game Data page for more information. Will Dragon Warrior be on the Nintendo Game Cube?I have heard that FunCo Gamers Weekly listed Dragon Warrior Monsters as one of the games to be released for the Game Cube, but Enix of America has not made this announced. I emailed Enix about this rumor, but they apparently didn't have time to write back :(If anyone has also read that in FunCo Gamers Weekly or anywhere else please email me at jimgray@writeme.com and make a scan if possible. When were the Dragon Warrior games released? The first Dragon Warrior game was released in 1989. Go to my Game Data page for more information.Game PlayWhat happens if you beat Dragon Warrior 1 without saving the princess?I've heard they mention that the princess was never found, but you just leave on your journey like usual (just without the annoying princess making you let her come.) You can also take her to the Dragonlord (and even join him) but nothing very unusual happens. Can you run away from bosses?I don’t think you can in most Dragon Warrior games, but I’m pretty sure you can in the NES version of Dragon Warrior 1 (including the Dragonlord, the green dragon in the swamp cave, and the golem). The Dragonlord and golem have maximum speed so it should be very difficult to run away from them.Is it possible to beat Dragon Quest 2-7 solo?I can't say for sure, but it should be. Especially Dragon Warrior 3. Trying to beat any Dragon Warrior game (other than Dragon Warrior 1) with only one hero should be very difficult. This is explained by how damage is dealt in Dragon Warrior. How is damage determined in Dragon Warrior? The game has a complicated statistical engine that determines damage. Here is a simplified formula I came up with:(attack power - [defense/2])/2 = maximum damage (at least 2) (attack power - [defense/2])/4 = minimum damage (at least 1) Note: Attack power = attack power of the attacker (weapon + strength). Defense = defense of the character who is hit (armor + agility [or 1/2 agility depedning on the game]) Both formulas (for max & min damage) would be needed to figure out damage since damage is random (a number between max & min). The most common damage would be the average/medium damage: *Possible problems*: I'm still not sure how this would work out against things with extremelly high defense, like metal slimes. Even against an enemy with more than twice your defense it might be possible to deal extra damage *if* you have enough attack power. This could probably be fixed if the "at least 2 damage" for maximum damage was changed, based more on attack power (+1/100 attack power): max/possible damage without a criticle hit 1-99 = 2 100-199 = 3 200-299 = 4 300-399 = 5... Here are the basic rules of damage:
How did you figure out how damage is dealt?I used an editor to plug in different amounts of attack power for the hero and ran around attacking various monsters and recording the results. After comparing the attack power, defense, and the actual damage dealt, I saw the rules of damage. Using the rules of damage and a little imagination I played around with a few formulas and found one that worked pretty good. I think its actually wrong in that maximum damage should be higher (5 instead of 4 maybe?) with a larger damage range. My formula matches damage I saw more than the possible larger damage range whith some extremes rarely to be seen.MerchandiseDoes Dragon Quest have music CDs?Yes, several. You can get some at amazon:
Where can I buy Dragon Warrior music, anime, art, and games?Lots of merchandise is available for purchase online. Check out the Merchandise Section of the Dragon-Warrior.com directory.Where can I buy the older Dragon Warrior games?Check Ebay.com and Funcoland.com.New ReleasesHow is Dragon Warrior 1&2 for Game Boy Color different from the original Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 for the NES?
Who is Erdrick?Erdrick was the name given to the hero of Dragon Warrior 3, renamed to Loto in the Game Boy versions of the Dragon Warrior games to be closer to the original Japanese version. Why did Enix change the names of the Dragon Warrior characters in the recent games?Enix changed the names of the characters (Erdrick became Loto, Gwaelin became Lora, etc.) The names are now actually closer translations to the original Dragon Quest versions. Although it is a mystery if Enix of America strongly is for more percise translations, if some fans complained who they listened to, or if there is a different reason, Enix of America claims the names were changed mostly due to the smaller screen on the Game Boy.Why did Enix get rid of the Old English in Dragon Warrior 1&2: Game Boy Color? This was an editorial decision by Enix of America dealing with the style of the game. In other words its a secret. What names were changed in the Game Boy Color version of Dragon Warrior 1&2?There are several name changes. Erdrick changed to Loto, Princess Gwaelin changed to Princess Lora, King Lorick changed to King Lars, and the Dragonlord changed to the DracoLord. Go here for the complete list of all the name changes.Dragon Warrior 1&2 for the Game Boy color is too easy! How can I challenge myself? You can try beating Dragon Warrior 1 without any weapons or armor, or without saving the princess. For Dragon Warrior 2 let two of your companions die and see how far you can get without them. It might even be possible to beat the game solo. Please email me at mageslime@yahoo.com if you accept this challenge and to me know any difficulties you encounter or if you could actually beat it solo! Will Dragon Warrior 3 only be available for the Game Boy Color? The new release of Dragon Warrior 3 will only be available to Game Boy Color. It won't even be usable on the regular Game Boy. Long ago Dragon Warrior 3 was released on Nintendo. Then it was re-released in Japan for the Super Famicom. Dragon Warrior 3 for the Game Boy color is actually based on the Japanse Super Famicom re-release.How is Dragon Warrior 3 different from the games before it?Dragon Warrior 3 was originally released in the US in 1988.In Dragon Warrior 3 there are 1-4 party members. One is the hero and the other 3 you can make. Their classes are one of the following: fighter (martial artist), soldier, pilgrim (priest), merchant (dealer), wizard, goof-off, or thief. Later in the game one of your buddies can become a sage (warrior/wizard/pilgrim). The world of Dragon Warrior 3 is huge. You walk by foot, sail, and fly for transportation. It is your job to save the world from an incredibly powerful enemy. In Dragon Warrior 3 you may not capture monsters. The first Dragon Warrior game that had monsters help you was Dragon Warrior 4. The first Dragon Warrior game to allow you to capture monsters was Dragon Warrior 5. How is Dragon Warrior 3 for Game Boy Color different from the original Dragon Warrior 3 for the NES?This version will be based on the Super Famicom remix of Dragon Quest 3, which was only released in Japan.
What does the thief class do?Thieves are agile, strong, and learn some spells. Thieves are often stronger than warriors (soldiers) and fighters. They may not use heavy weapons and their preferred weapon is the whip, which can deal damage to all enemies. Whips at first may deal as much damage as a single target weapon, but they are not incredibly common. Their spells are as follows:
What are the features of Dragon Quest 7?
What are the jobs in Dragon Quest 7?Here are the translations to the hero jobs using the V Jump guide book and information provided by the GIA:
Is Torneko: the Last Hope a Dragon Warrior game?Torneko: the Last Hope is an incredibly non-traditional Dragon Warrior game, and is questionable one. It has a Dragon Warrior hero (Taloon from Dragon Warrior 4) and several familiar monsters, but you loose all your experience levels after every quest and fighting monsters is more strategy-based (and involves movement).Did Dragon Warrior Monsters copy PokeMon?Probably, but Dragon Quest 5 was made in 1992 (before PokeMon) and was largely centered on the capturing monsters. Considering how influential Dragon Quest is in Japan, Poke Mon was probably also inspired by Dragon Quest. What new monsters will be in Dragon Quest Monsters 2?No one knows for sure yet. Maybe wolves, and some new King Slimes, such as a Slabbit King. I made a possible breeding chart of King Slimes for Dragon Quest Monsters 2.Were the new monsters in Dragon Warrior Monsters already in Japanese Dragon Quest games?Yes, but not all. Some of the slimes (SlimeNite and SpotSlime), Gasgon, probably some other monsters I'm not sure about, and probably about any bosses never seen in the US (Pizzaro, Mirudrass, Mudou, DeathMore, DarkDrium [Dark Dream]). Dragon Quest 6 had various colors of SpotSlimes, a MetalyNite, and a purple KingSlime. What monsters of Dragon Warrior Monsters were completely original? As far as I know several of the slimes were never in any other Dragon Quest game: TreeSlime, Slabbit, DrakSlime, WingSlime, BoxSlime, FangSlime, RockSlime, and SlimeBorg. SlimeNite and SpotSlime were new to the US, but they were in both Dragon Quest 5 and 6.What were the Monsters of Dragon Warrior called in the original Dragon Warrior games?Several names of monsters were changed in Dragon Warrior Monsters (such as metal slime to metaly). Go to my Dragon Warrior Monsters Translation page for more of the original names seen in the US.MysteriesWhy does gaining levels make you strong?Gaining levels represents your experience in battle. How would that give someone so many hit points and such high attack power? This is why. Whenever a person fights enough they grow larger. Eventually you would be so big you could beat anyone! Why are wolves so strong in Dragon Warrior?Wolves are so strong they give you more experience than fighting a warlock. I would think wolves would be a lot easier to fight against than a powerful magic user! Only in Alefgard are they so large. See!What's Erdrick's favorite food?BBQ Putrepup WingsWas Loto or Erdrick the actual name of the Dragon Warrior 3 hero?In Dragon Warrior 3 for the NES the hero was dubbed Erdrick at the end of the game. Enix.com explained the name "Erdrick" was the hero's real name and that Loto was what the hero was dubbed. What the heck? His true name was Erdrick, but he recieved the title Roto, meaning savior, for defeating the Archfiends. Erdrick was probably never called Loto in his lifetime, but one of his descendants over a hundred years later became known as the Descendant of Loto as a joke (thanks to a child who mispronounced the name). After all, that would mean he didn't have savior ancistery. Eventually most people forgot Erdrick was titled Roto and believed his actual name to be Loto. Why aren't there helmets in Dragon Warrior 1?Erdrick's descendant already found Erdrick's helmet in his basement. There was no point in having helmets in the game since the hero already had the best one.Why are inn signs in inns?In times of chaos and destruction several adventurers travel to various towns overcrowding inns. Inn keepers love this demand, but unfortunately inn signs are primary targets during slime raids, so inn keepers decided to keep them inside their inns where they are safe. Why didn't anyone help the hero in Dragon Warrior 1?The hero in Dragon Warrior 1 doesn't allow anyone to join him on his mission because it would be poor sportsmanship to gang up against monsters. How did the Dragonlord get to Alefgard? The Dragon Queen died before her son, the Dragonlord, was hatched. She asked Erdrick to protect her egg after she died. She died soon after and strangely Erdrick just left the egg there. Once the Archfiend was destroyed and the portal to the overworld was sealed (where the egg was), it was obvious no one could protect the Dragon Queen's precious egg.Luckily a group of powerful Alefgardian magicians took the Dragon Queen's egg after Erdrick left it alone and replaced it with a forgery. They returned to Alefgard where they protected the egg in secret. Why did the Dragonlord keep the princess in Swamp Cave instead of Charlock? Why did he even kidnap the princess? Swamp Cave is one of few caves you can go to in Dragon Warrior 1 to look for a princess. The Dragonlord kept Princess Gwaelin in Swamp Cave guarded by a puny green dragon, instead of safely by his side at Charlock Castle guarded by mighty red dragons. The Dragonlord kidnapped the princess all as an elaborate plan. The Dragonlord had a grandson who you met in Dragon Warrior 2. Ever notice how Dragonlord's mate was never seen in Dragon Warrior 1? This is all explained by the Dragonlord's plan to dominate Alefgard. It all started when the Dragonlord kidnapped Princess Gwaelin. The Dragonlord told the king, "Don't interfere with his plans or the Princess gets it!" to make sure there wouldn't be any question about why he would kidnap her. Immediately after the Princess was taken to Charlock Castle after she was kidnapped. There the Dragonlord cast an illusion over his mate, the Dragonlady (who already had an egg hidden somewhere in Charlock), so that she would look like Princess Gwaelin. After that he threw the Princess in the basement of Charlock and locked the Dragonlady in Swamp Cave. The Dragonlord wanted you to save the Princess because she was really the Dragonlady and her presence in the throne room would play a pivotal role in his plan. Of course it would seem too easy to let you save her without a fight, so he assigned a green dragon to guard her. The green dragon would be much easier to defeat than a true monster, like a red dragon. Erdrick's descendant did defeat the puny green dragon and immediately took the Dragonlady to Tantegel to marry her. To make sure not to arouse suspicion the Dragonlady gave her new husband a trinket she took from Princess Gwaelin. She didn't know it would let him find Erdrick's token or she would have never gave it to him. As far as she knew at the time he should never be able to receive the rainbow drop or reach Charlock. There in Tantegel the Dragonlady got to spy on Lorick's plans and at the same time was updated on her husband's progress. Right when Erdrick's descendant set off to create the rainbow bridge the Dragonlady conveniently kidnapped Lorick and gave him to a dragon who took him to Charlock. At charlock the Dragonlord cast a spell to transform Lorick into a Dragonlord. The Dragonlord let Lorick keep the Ball of Light but made sure a lot of red dragons kept an eye on him. Then the Dragonlord transformed into a dragon to quickly fly to Tantegel and cast an illusion over himself to look like Lorik. When Erdrick's descendant finally got to Lorick all Lorick said was, "I'm not the Dragonlord, I am the King of Kings. I have been waiting for someone to share the throne with me. Will thou stand with me?" Erdrick's descendant was insulted by this question (and thought he said he WAS the Dragonlord) and attacked him. Lorick was about to die when he finally realized how to turn into a dragon. In self-defense he blew fire to scare Erdrick's descendant away. Of course the hero got really mad by that and decided to finish Lorik off. Erdrick returned to Tantegel with the Ball of Light and handed it to the Dragonlord. Everyone rejoiced and celebrated. The Dragonlord offered to hand Erdrick's descendant the throne knowing he would probably refuse or he would have to make a joke out of the idea. Erdrick's descendant did refuse and wanted conveniently leave to find a kingdom of his own before he could realize Lorick was actually the Dragonlord in disguise. Erdrick's descendant was a much nicer guy than the Dragonlord, so she wanted to come with him. The Dragonlady as her annoying usual self made Erdrick's descendant let her come with him. The real Princess was long forgotten in the basement of Charlock. Possibly she found a nice red dragon to marry. Why do you lose half your gold when you die? If monsters take it wouldn't they take all of it?Some people follow you around to get your money when you die. They bring you to the town spending a quarter of your money to resurrect you and a quarter to keep for themselves. They'd rather spend some of your money to keep you alive so you can die again than keep it all and be out of a job.How could that little blob hurt you?Little cute happy blobs (called slimes) seem so innocent and good, but they can be overwhelming to low level characters. How could anyone possibly be hurt by a slime? This is why:Why did the Dragonlord steal the ball of light? The Dragonlord stole the Ball of Light to allow the hordes of monsters that were left over from the days of Zoma's reign to gain the courage to leave the safe depths of the mountains and wreck havoc once more. In the chaos of the monsters the Dragonlord would find it much easier to seize control of Alefgard. What happened after the hero joined the Dragonlord? He ruled Alefgard in tyranny as the Dragonlord's partner. This was taken out of the game due to laziness of the programmers. What is the Dragonlord, where did he come from? The Dragonlord is a noble dragon. He is the Dragon Queen's son. Click here to view the complete profile of the Dragonlord. The Emblem of Roto Manga Series portrayed the Dragon Queen more similar to the Dragonlord (originally King Dragon) and she had a human form. Once the manga referred to his mother and showed a picture of her. Click to view a translated manga clip of the Dragon Queen. Note: In the Emblem of Roto Manga Series Chrissy has confirmed that the Dragon Queen is indeed the Dragonlord's mother. Why did the Dragonlord fight the hero alone? The Dragonlord sent some monsters after the hero individually. He likes to fight fair. Ganging up against a hero would be rude, uncivilized, and boring. What is the pointiness on the Dragonlord's Head?It is a helmet with horns to let people know that he is really a dragon. Everyone knew he was really a dragon! ...except for the hero. Why was the Dragonlord afraid of a dragon?According to the story of Dragon Warrior, the Dragonlord was one of the few humans who were unhappy. Then he met a dragon inside a cave and was surprised that he not only wasn't eaten, but he could control the dragon. The Dragonlord never saw anything so powerful and was used to living in human form so he had the feeling he might get hurt. Why did the hero of Dragon Warrior 1 have to buy clothes? Was he naked? He decided he would no longer wear cloths, as they were material things. He said all material things distract us from living a life to pursue a life of wisdom and happiness. How did the hero of Dragon Warrior 1 know he was Erdrick's descendant? He had a dream where he walked into the basement of his family's home to find Erdrick (a legendary hero who saved the world from a great evil). Erdrick told Dave of a long-forgotten premonition. Before the archfiend died he mentioned that a great evil would return to Alefgard. Erdrick explained that Dave was his descendant and was destined to defeat the new evil. The next day Dave went into the basement and went through a chest of his ancestor's possessions. There he found his great grandfather's diary. On the first page it explained that he was Erdrick. Why isn't Erdrick's shield in Dragon Warrior1?The hero never found it. It was converted into a table in his living room before he was born. Why didn't the hero ever fight more than one monster at a time in Dragon Warrior1?Most monsters competed against one another. Since the hero usually had lots of money they wanted to get it for themselves.Monsters working for the Dragonlord were purposely sent against the hero one by one to be fair. How do you go up in Charlock Castle?Ever notice how stairs only lead beneath the surface of Charlock? Stairs were removed since the dragons and other powerful monsters can easily climb over the floor levels. As far as I know there is no way for heroes to go up.Why make a golem out of gold?Gold men are giant golems made of solid gold. The Dragonlord's evil wizard followers created the gold men to help transport the gold they plundered from towns. Some gold men became uncontrollable and wandered right back to towns and heroes that often were able to recover their gold.Where was the hero of Dragon Warrior 1 from?Alefgard. Even though Erdrick did not live among villagers in Alefgard some of his descendants did.Why does the door in Lorik's chamber require a key and then never close? The door was locked, as it is during all Lorik's important meetings and conferences. The door was extremely weak and broke open permanently after you unlocked it. It is believed the door was weak as sabotage to help the Dragonlord kidnap the princess and raid the castle. Even though that had already happened, some evidence of sabotage remained. Why can't you sail in Dragon Warrior 1?After the Dragonlord came into power and stole the Ball of Light winds had ceased and Kragacles (the most powerful sea monster of Dragon Warrior 3) returned to their obnoxious selves. Why did King Lorik give so little help to the hero?Perhaps he takes heroes who wears clothes more seriously.Did Erdrick fight the Dragonlord?According to a booklet that came with the NES version of Dragon Warrior Erdrick fought the Dragonlord. Many in Alefgard believe this story, but it is a myth, similar to how George Washington chopped down a cherry tree. Many years after the Dragonlord was defeated some told stories about how Erdrick returned to Alefgard to defeat the Dragonlord then disappeared (drawing many to the assumption that he fought the Dragonlord). The myth was actually created by confusion dealing with Ortega who did disappear after venturing to defeat the Archfiend, Zoma. The Dragonlord actually attacked Alefgard 100 years after Erdrick saved the worlds, so this would be impossible. Even if it was possible it would make no sense that he would leave his own great battle gear behind, get to Charlock without the rainbow bridge, and leave his tablet to help his descendant. Why don't any kings revive Erdrick's friends?A law was adopted by all kingdoms that only one hero per party would be revived after defeated by the enemy. Why didn't a king revive Ortega?Although Erdrick was always revived by a king, Ortega was not. Apparently Ortega hadn't paid his taxes. Of course calling the King a cheap corrupt bastard probably didn't help either. Is Erdrick's grave at Elf Land?Yes, but Erdrick isn't buried there. It is a mystery how elves of Elf Land met Erdrick. During Erdrick's stay in Elf Land he was attacked by a Granite Titan who squished Charley (who was watching Erdrick as he fought the beast). Erdrick quickly left and the elves found the squashed remains of Charley. They assumed it was the remains of Erdrick, but little did they know Erdrick had hundreds of hit points. How long did it take for Erdrick to save the worlds?253 days. |
