GhostA soul of a dead person who returns to the world in one form or another. Ghosts are the mental part (or true being) of the person separated from its body. Ghosts can appear as a person, a transparent version of the person it once was, and occasionally other forms. |

A place inhabited by an unhappy ghost is considered haunted (often castles or houses). Haunted places are associated with a strong emotion or injustice of the past such as terror, remorse, or a violent death. Manifestations of haunted places include images of the dead, moved belongings, moving lights, and disembodied sounds (laughter, cries, screams, talking, moans, footsteps, or even rattling chains). |
